Whoa. Korn’s Brian "Head" Welch leaves the band

22
Feb

I like alternative rock, hard rock, grunge, whatever you want to call it. Chevelle is one of my favorites, mostly because they make great music and are a band of Christian brothers. Just noticed the news today about KoЯn’s guitarist, Brian "Head" Welch, being saved (there is also a CNN article about it.) In my option, this is great news! I hope he continues to make great music, just with a better message. I would also like to thank the band for encouraging Brian in his new walk with Christ. Their news release is very respectful and should be applauded.

Oh, and, welcome to the family, Brian!

Fixing WordPress 1.5 on Windows 2000 (IIS 5)

EDIT: 2005 May 9 — The official fix is out! Download 1.5.1!

Well, I’ve upgraded to WordPress 1.5 and things seem to be going pretty well. I did have to spend the better part of a day trying to figure out why I couldn’t either log in to my admin page from a computer that hadn’t logged in yet, nor could I log out from a computer that was normally logged in. Turns out there is a problem setting a cookie and sending header redirection (a “location:” header) from the same Php file on a Windows 2000 Server (IIS 5).

But there is a workaround. It takes a few manual edits, but I think it fixes most of the problem. — EDIT: 2005 Mar 13 — Please note that the changes I outlined below have become outdated. I have created a zip file with all the necessary changes as will be implemented in the official release of WP 1.5.1. You can download the zip file from my site.

While the changes below work, they are NOT the accepted method for fixing this problem. Please instead use the files contained in the zip file I am providing above.

Funny thing happened (twice) recently

Recently, I received a comment on my blog from one reader and an e-mail from another saying that I was sending them spam and viruses and they wanted me to stop. They thought I was sending them viruses because they had received an attachment, Googled the attachment name, and my Spam Stats page showed up as the top hit. One of the things I do when I generate the stats is list all the attachments that have been blocked. This means that my mail server received the same attachments that they received, not that I am sending them.

My favorite place to get white cheese dip is at El Porton in West Little Rock. I found one (that’s right, ONE) decent recipe on the Internet for white cheese dip (from http://www.xenite.org/white_cheese/). Here is the stuff:

  1. ----- Recipe via Meal-Master ™ v8.04
  2.
  3.       Title: CHILE CON QUESO
  4.  Categories: Appetizers, Dips, Cheese, Mexican
  5.       Yield: 1 1/4 cups
  6.
  7.       1 c  Asadero cheese; shredded *
  8.       4 oz Jalapenos, chopped;
  9.            -drained, OR
  10.       4 oz Poblanos, deveined &
  11.            -julienned
