Nellie, gone but not forgotten

Well, yesterday was a very sad day.
Our toy schnauzer, Nellie, finally died. She was 12 years old, which is pretty good for a dog of her breed.
She had been going downhill quickly for the last week. In addition, my wife has an uncanny ability to know when one of our pets are near death. She told me two days ago that she was close.
It was probably hardest for Penny, since she was closest to Nellie. She knew when she was hungry, thirsty, sleepy or just plain ole grumpy.
We’ll miss you, Shnellie.
