Penny made pot roast. yum, yum!
Steak and grilled Portabella mushrooms to celebrate July 4th.
One if my favorite kinds of meals: summer vegetables front and center! Summer squash, zucchini and onions, purple hull peas, hard boiled eggs from our own chickens, tomatoes from our garden plus blackberry jello made from real blackberries we picked!
After a long, hot day working outside, it was nice to get cleaned up and grill some awesome bone-in pork chops from Freckle Face Farm. I then added some grilled pineapple with coarse Real Salt. The meal was finished off with some turnip greens cooked with bacon and chicken broth.
Flat iron steak with queso fresco, baked potato and pea salad.
Happy Memorial Day!
One word: Wow! The salad came from here and is delicious.
We have been raising chickens for eggs for several years. We just recently started raising chickens for meat. We built portable chicken tractors using the FoodCyclist plans and I think they turned out very well.
We needed a trailer to put our chicken house for our layers on because it was a bit too heavy for moving. After looking for several weeks for a used one, I found a pretty nice one from Harbor Freight Tools for about $200, but it came in a huge box with a million little pieces.
